Wall art is a necessity in any room decor, but if you don't hang it appropriately it might spoil the whole look. When displaying art, think like a gallery and have the center of the piece at eye level. If you have a group of prints to arrange on one wall, work out the design on the floor first to locate the perfect configuration. Using watercolors of palm trees and beaches in colorful frames can help to add ambiance to the Tropical interior decorating theme.

If you want to provide an appealing look to your decorating approach, look at using decorative pillows. Pillows can be used to decorate a multitude of rooms, the living room, family room, den and even the kitchen. In the kitchen or bathroom, a pillow places strategically on a hamper or chair will help to add a whimsical touch. Pillows on your couch or chair can help insert the Tropical home decorating ambiance to the furniture. In the bedroom, mound them against the headboard. To best augment your design style, stick to pillows that are fun and tropical.

Envision adding beach themed items, palm tree knick knacks, and flamingos for more of a feeling of the beach. To ideally benefit your design theme, you should purchase accessories that not only enhance each other, but also the decorating scheme. Stick with on theme accessories purely in order to get the appearance you are striving for.

Finding the appropriate knick knacks to balance your room can be fun plus help pull the room together. To highlight your Tropical home decorating, purchase knick knacks with a fun and cheery ambiance. Arranging shells in colorful bowls or placing a collection of vintage tropical kitsch a display shelf. This is where you can really make the home design your own by acquiring accessories that mirror your individuality. If you are on a limited budget, you might want to try shopping at the local flea markets and garage sales where you should be able to discover very interesting accessories for less money.

Using whimsical pieces with tropical flair can add a professional style to your Tropical interior decorating theme. You should make sure, however, that you don't go out acquiring things wily nily or you can end up with a jumbled mess. Size matters, so go around the room and figure out the size of your accessories and paintings you would like and buy accordingly. If you decorate with these rules, you'll be able to accessorize your room with accessories that look most fitting together.

Your Inner Child

Your inner child lives in your heart, the emotional center of your body. It is helpful however, to picture your child self outside your body in order to communicate more effectively with him/her. There are several phases to the inner child relationship. The first is the healing of your wounded child of the past. The second stage, which lasts the rest of your life, is nurturing your inner child of the present.

This child is not all that you are. You are an adult who has survived a lifetime of risks and hardships, growing and learning along the way. You have a brilliant mind, which you have used only partially because of the limitations of your parenting and the world you live in. There is much more to you than you know. If you are fortunate enough to have already recognized your greatness, you probably know that you are still not through. The closer you come to knowing who you really are, the more you realize how much you have to learn.

"What this power is, I cannot say. All I know is that it exists...and it becomes available only when you are in that state of mind in which you know exactly what you want...and are fully determined not to quit until you get it."

Birthday Memories

We didn't really get into the whole birthday thing when I was a little kitschy kim. My mom would buy a Pepperidge Farm frozen cake, thaw it out and stick some candles in it. Then we'd would go and get my birthday present which was always school clothes since my birthday is in August. I think if I would have had a birthday party it would have looked like this.

Betsey Johnson is my Ideal Doll (IDOL)

I hope to one day be just like Betsey Johnson, Vivienne Westwood or Coco Chanel. How beautiful to relish in your eccentricity to the point that others do as well.

Why I love ebay....

Ebay is that giant garage sale in cyber-space where someone's trash is surely someone's treasure. I have found nostalgic items that bring back happy memories of my childhood. One is the the Avon fragrance Cotillion that my grandmother wore in the 1960's and 1970's. She no longer wears it.... probably because Avon no longer makes it. As a little kitschy Kim, I found the bottle to be as enchanting as the scent.
Another item is the 1972 New Born Baby Tenderlove. I lost mine when my family moved to another town. No idea what happened to her during that moving process, but I was shattered. Well lo and behold there she was waiting for me on ebay. I missed you baby tenderlove!

Hey Cupcake!

Being a sugar lovin dessert diva I have to share with you one of mine and most of Austin, Texas' favorite dessert spots. "Hey Cupcake" operates out of cool airstream trailors. They have the most delectable cupcakes. Some of my favorites are Double Dose, Red Velvet, Snowcap, 24 Carrot and Michael Jackson. What the heck..I love'em all!

A Cutesy Kitschy Kitchen

This was a very memorable kitchen revamp by designer Kahi Lee on HGTV. The stenciled birds on the cabinets are uniquely whimsical. The cheerful colors and retro vibe make me smile.

For an Upcoming 12th Birthday Bash

I think this is a great cake for my girl, Chloe's upcoming 12th birthday. We'll be going to celebrate with all the little girl-friends by seeing The Twilight Saga, New Moon on opening night. Then back home for a kareoke and a sleepover.
